r/Overwatch PC Origins Key Giveaway!

Some notes:

  • There were 24,076 entries

  • All eleven winners were accounts that are at least 1 year old, with several being 5.

  • None of the winners had multiple entries for their reddit name.

Edited extra bullet for the confused.

  • All entries were accepted and in the pool. Accounts made specifically for this giveaway were in the pool, and had just as much chance (extremely low) of winning as any others.

We noticed concerns about fresh accounts and people using multiple google accounts. While we wanted to give anyone browsing/lurking the sub a chance, there was worry about what to do if we saw nothing but winners with zero history. Obviously we would like at least some winners to be active reddit/sub users. This managed to take care of itself, with all the drawn names being active year+ redditors, and each only had one entry submitted.

Thanks to all who entered and commented, and I hope you have a pleasant rest of your week.

Original Post

Hi there!

We have been given 11 keys from the folks at Blizzard to do with as we please! giveaway on the subreddit. These are PC keys for the Origins Edition.

You can enter the drawing by simply submitting your reddit username in the google form located here. Note that you will require a google account to enter.

The drawing will close at 7:15PM UTC, roughly 24 hours from this post. Here is a countdown to that time.

I'd like to thank all of you for continuing to be awesome, and best of luck for those of you entering!

Edit: Winners will be contacted via PMs on reddit. I will be giving them 24 hours to respond, and if I do not hear back, I will reroll those codes and repeat the process. Note that we have also decided to not announce the winner's names, due to the very likely event that they will get mass PMs for trades/begs/flames. We'd like to avoid that if possible. They are free to comment stating that they have won.

Edit 2: Submissions are now closed. We will be drawing the winners within the hour. PMs will be out shortly after.

Does progress carry over if I buy the game?

Yes, all progress you make during the free weekend will carry over if you purchase the game. So all those loot boxes you earn and skins you unlock will stay with you after the free weekend is over if you buy it.

Anything else I should know?

Yes, you'll need to have a subscription to Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus in order to play the game for free on consoles. On PC all you'll need is a Battle.net account and you're good to go.

Have fun!

Overwatch really is a fantastic shooter for casuals and hardcore gamers. It's great because there's so many different types of characters to play and each one has different skills and powers. Plenty of these heroes don't require tons of FPS experience, either, so even newcomers can have fun in the game. It's important to note that this is a multiplayer only game, however, so if you're not into online competitive games this probably isn't your cup of tea. Then again, it's one of those games that really can work for players who otherwise might avoid this type of game. You don't need the crazy twitch reflexes that Call of Duty requires, for instance. In any case, a free weekend is a great time to see if the game is right for you.

Rainbow Six Siege is also free this upcoming weekend. Read about that here. It's an excellent, if daunting, game.
