“This is America” by Childish Gambino earned seven nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards, which will be handed out on Monday night, August 20. And although the hip-hop artist also known as Donald Glover has yet to win a Moonman in any category, this year he’s tipped to win every category, according to the latest predictions of hundreds of Gold Derby users. That would tie “This is America” with Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance” as the second most awarded video in history, and it would be the biggest clean sweep of all time. Do you agree he’ll go seven-for-seven?

“This is America” was a sensation when the single and video dropped on May 5, the night Glover hosted and performed on “Saturday Night Live.” The video’s unsettling imagery and political overtones made it the focus of many discussions and helped propel the song to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Its cultural impact was reminiscent of Beyonce‘s “Formation,” which won six VMAs including Video of the Year in 2016.

But our users don’t just think “This is America” will win big. They think it’ll win everything: Video of the Year, Best Video with a Message, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Choreography, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. That would tie “Bad Romance,” but even it didn’t have a clean sweep. The Lady Gaga video actually had 10 nominations and lost 3: Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.

The biggest VMA winner of all time, “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel, took home nine Moonmen in 1987, but that wasn’t a clean sweep either. It won everything but, ironically, the Viewer’s Choice Award, which went to U2‘s “With or Without You.” So if “This is America” does claim every category it will be the biggest undefeated champ in the 35-year history of the awards. Can he pull it off? This is the VMAs, so don’t catch him slippin’ up.

“That song should not be joked about,” said Foxx going off-script from the Microsoft Theatre stage on Sunday night (June 24). The night’s emcee proceeded to mimic Donald Glover’s dance moves in the provocative video released last month as Glover watched from the crowd.

Foxx continued: “This young man, Childish Gambino, Donald Glover — singer, songwriter, philanthropist, movie star, overall badass. … A true artist. … I wanna acknowledge you.” Kamal raja all song.

Inviting Glover to the stage, the two embraced, then Glover took a microphone to deliver a couple of verses from “This Is America.” He then continued: “I’m really happy to be in this room with everybody,” said the “Atlanta” star shouting out Lena Waithe, Issa Rae (the latter not in attendance) and the HBO series “Insecure.” “I really was not expecting to get up here,” said Glover with a laugh.

Foxx did joke a bit about the impact Glover has made on entertainment in the last few years, noting Glover’s awards show attire. “Pajamas,” said Glover.

Cracked Foxx: “[Like] you just rolled out of bed. That’s how you know you’re rich — get out of bed with your pajamas on and come to the BET Awards.”
